Whats the best glue to fix the handle of a standard coffee mug?
I dropped a mug the other day (!) and the handle smashed into 5 pieces. I am wondering what the most suitable glue would fix it, if it to be still sink washed as normal afterwards-or if 5 pieces is too much to ever give a strong hold again? at worst after fixing I will guess sink washing may not be a good idea, but I am still unsure of the exact glue type to use, or if more than one may be up to the job? thanks very much for any suggestions
its not an amazing mug, I just felt bad after it breaking, and wanted something to do! lol. I'll guess if superglue can indeed hold it then that may be my best bet, providing I wash it very carefully afterwards. ps- I was wrong, the handle is broken into 4 pieces, not 5! thanks
Superglue works, IF the pieces are all there. That is, there are few or no gaps left between the pieces of porcelain. Still, however, I don't know that I'd use it a lot. I don't believe that the handle will break again, but do you really want to risk extremely hot liquid in your lap? My advice is to only do this if you want to save the mug for sentimental reasons - fix it and then rarely or never use it.
