What is that shiny pink and green reflection on my turkey cold cuts?
While I was making a sandwich, I noticed that my turkey had a shiny green and pink coat on it. I could see it with the light reflecting off of it, but only with the light. What are the colors from?
It's the cutting technique. Depending on the meat it can have a shiny sheen due to the cutting utensil, the faster quicker slices almost look reflective. Usually turkey does not have that sheen. Roast beef is the type that has that sheen most often. you might be looking at a fresher turkey meat. Many times if there is still blood in the meat during the processing it will come out with that sheen which is why roast beef has that look. Bloodier meat tends to be fresher. You might be in luck, you may be eating some high quality fresh meat just recently off the farm instead of the year old frozen cold cuts most people get.
